Build something.
Learn what
you can do.
Pacific Steel 5025 is a student robotics program at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego. Build a robot with a team, and practice the problem solving, communication, and responsibility you can carry into the rest of your life.
New to robotics? You can learn here. No experience required.

Skills you can take anywhere.
You may use a drill, a spreadsheet, or a line of code to learn them. The habits matter long after the season ends—in school, at work, and in everyday decisions.
Solve problems
A mechanism jams. A test fails. Work out what happened, weigh the options, and try again. Learn to use evidence when the answer is not obvious.
Work with people
Explain an idea, listen to a different one, and agree on a way forward. A robot only works when the people building its parts work together.
Take responsibility
Plan a task, follow through, and tell your teammates when you need help. Practice managing your time when someone else is counting on your work.
Keep learning
Ask questions, accept feedback, and improve a first attempt. Getting something wrong is useful when you can understand it and make the next attempt better.

A team gives the work meaning.
You have people to learn from, people to ask for help, and people who depend on you. Students contribute across engineering, scouting, outreach, and operations. Mentors bring experience into the room while students learn to make decisions and explain their reasoning.
Meet Pacific SteelYou can start before you know how.
No robotics experience is required. You can be interested in building, programming, design, communication, or simply finding out how things work.
Explore joining 5025Ask a question
Use the interest form to tell the team what you are curious about and ask about current eligibility and meeting times.
Get to know the work
Talk with the team about the different roles, the season, and what participation involves.
Learn with others
Start with work you can understand. Ask for help, practice, and take on more responsibility as you learn.
A real challenge.
A reason to learn.
FIRST Robotics Competition gives the team a new game each year. We turn its rules into design decisions, build a machine, test it, and take it to competition. The robot makes the learning tangible: an idea has to work beyond the whiteboard.

Competition puts decisions under pressure. Teams adapt, repair, and work with an alliance. Here is our recent event record.

Different interests lead to different roles. Each one offers practice in making decisions, sharing information, and following through.
